We all know that organic foods are healthier than a lot of mass-produced name brand stuff but, unfortunately, organic foods are also more expensive. Many people claim that to be their reason for not eating healthier when it comes to foods you buy in a supermarket, and with the economy being what it is and food prices soaring seemingly every month – who could blame them?

Nobody wants to spend tons of money on organic foods, just so that they can then be forced to look into debt settlement services to pay for it all. Perhaps that example is a little extreme, but it’s really no joke that organic foods aren’t cheap, but are they worth the cost?

The answer really depends on what you think is too much. Some people would see the price justified, especially if they have to go on a specially regulated diet to sustain their own livelihood. And, while it is true that a lot of organic products do cost more, they also tend to last longer than most things bought in a regular grocery store. Why? Because they are organic, all those preservatives and additives are gone. In the end, it’s really up to the consumer to decide if organic food is worth the cost. Of course, if you NEED organic food for health reasons there is a better way of looking at the matter of cost – pay now or pay later.

There are so many benefits as to why you should choose organic food. Organic farms and farmers are inspected every year and must meet very high standards. These inspections assure that you are not eating any type of toxins, pesticides or sludge that you will find on a non-organic farm. Organic food is much more flavorful. Healthy soil proves to have delicious results. Healthy soil used in organic farming also produces much higher amounts of antioxidants, and mineral and vitamin rich food. Another benefit is you don’t have to worry about your children ingesting pesticides and harmful pesticides which is known to hinder their growth both physically and mentally. Another benefit that is long lasting is providing mineral rich soil for years to come. By organic farming you are leaving some of the best soil available for the farmers of the generations to come. Another benefit is organic farming does not pollute the water, in fact it safeguards it. Organic farming also promotes biological diversity because unlike regular farmers, organic farmers tend to plant many different types of crops at the same time. And one of the most important benefits of eating organic helps preserve rural communities. By eating organic you are helping the small farmers in your area

Most people have heard about the new phenomenon known as organic food. However, you may be curious to know what exactly organic farming entails and why it is categorized in its own food category. Organic in general refers to vegetables and fruits that are grown completely naturally and free from any hormones, pesticides, or other products that can harm not only the environment but also your body. With the craze now entering mainstream society, you may have noticed a few organic food shops opening up in your area. If you are wondering how to tell the difference between organic or regular products, do not be misled. Most popular grocery stores have a special section labeled organic so that you can be sure you are paying for the difference.

You can also participate in your own organic growing and perhaps start your very own garden. All in all, organic farming also helps reduce the pollutants that go into our environment. If you would like more information on this subject area consider visiting an organic supply company and checking out what they have to offer. Organic farming is a great way to get involved in not only helping your own health but also looking after the health of the environment.

Organic farming relies on unconventional techniques to maintain soil and control pests. Sophisticated crop rotation; mulch, manure, and compost; and biological pest control are some of the techniques applied in organic agriculture. Organic farming encourages soil and water conservation, and its practices reduce pollution.

Once found only at farmer’s markets and health food stores, organic food is now available at most supermarkets. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) now has an organic certification program. It requires organic foods to meet certain government standards, which regulate how the foods are grown, processed, and handled.

The USDA organic seal is voluntary, but many organic farmers use it. Foods that carry the USDA “100 Percent Organic” seal must be completely organic. These include foods such as fruits, vegetables, and eggs — single ingredient foods.

Organic products that contain more than one ingredient, such as breakfast cereal, may use the USDA “Organic” seal if they are at least 95 percent organic. Farmers that produce foods that are at least 70 percent organic can label them as “made with organic ingredients,” but they cannot use the USDA seal.

Some people buy organic foods because they are concerned about pesticides and food additives. Others buy organic for environmental reasons. In-season fruits and vegetables are the most popular organic foods on the market today.Take a look here to learn more: Organic Foods That Belong in Your Kitchen

The Organic farming process: an explanation relies on crop rotation, green manure, compost, biological pest control, restriction s or limits on the use of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, hormones, antibiotics, food additives and modified organisms.

Organic Farming

Organic farming takes seeds that are free of genetically modified organisms and plant them in soil that is supplied with irrigation water. The weed control is handled through cultivating, mowing, hand weeding, covering up of crops, and crop flamer. The farmers take the fruit, vegetables and grains that have grown and extract the nutrients from the raw materials and the by products are returned to the field.

The products are recycled and the natural water that flows from the natural rivers and natural fall offs is used to feed the crops and many organic farmers surround their farm with ecofriendly atmospheres to keep the organic quality to their crops. Organic farmers increase soil fertility by increasing organic matter. They add dung, animal urine, compost and partially decomposed plants to the soil. These natural ingredients help the crops to grow and flourish without adding any type of growth hormone or unsafe ingredients. Most things in organic farming are free of genetically modified organisms and come from the earth.
