SuperMarket Coop Update #8--9/1/00
**********
Project Update:
Your ever diligent project manager is enjoying a rainy day in
Fall River Mills, California, working side by side with key project
partner, Gail Lennon, farmer and member of Fall River Wild Rice.
We are truly
experiencing the labor part of the Labor Day weekend, as we brainstorm
marketing strategy and compare notes on orders, the Web site
and our visions for this project.
The Intermountain Fair, in
McArthur, California began yesterday and we will be headed out
there shortly to set up our booth of SuperMarket info and products.
Gail plans to prepare pancakes with Fall River Wild Rice and
topped with HOME Maple Syrup! Don't you wish you were here.
On the eighth Friday of the
online retail store, http://www.supermarketcoop.com,
we are making some decisions about shipping, images and text,
and product pricing. You will begin to see changes this weekend
if the weather doesn't continue to blow out the electricity.
This may be your last chance to get free shipping, so place your
orders now!
I received a couple of images
of the San Juan Weaving Cooperative, from our friend Ralph, of
HOME. They have been added and Ralph promises to speak with members
of their cooperative that have traveled to Guatemala for additional
photos and stories. And at the request of two project supporters,
we will be adding dimensions and better images of the table throws,
as well as matching napkin sets. (Your suggestions really are
important to us.)
On that note, I continue to
look forward to your comments-- rbond@ruralco.org
Product of the Week:
HOME Maple Syrup and Fall River Wild Rice! We are serving syrup
with our Wild Rice Pancakes this weekend at the Fair, and will
continue to focus on the cooperation and collaboration that makes
this unique project work. So why not have two products of the
week.
Check them out at http://www.supermarketcoop.com
and if you're interested, Gail will be sure to send you her pancake
recipe! Don't forget, this may be your last chance at free shipping.
Next Week:
Updates from my week with Gail, as well as information on our
soon to be online Mexican members!
In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
