SuperMarket Update #39--5/25/01
**************
A quick thanks to those of you who have looked through the site and helped me edit some spelling and links. It is hard to see everything and I appreciate the attention.

I am pleased to announce this week the newest section of the Web site, the Recipe of the Month! http://www.supermarketcoop.com/recipes.htm This is Liz Clasen's first official published web page and the beginning of great things to come.

We became aware with the last CSA box that we were not including as many vegetarian recipes as other, so Liz focused on a Wild Rice Cranberry Salad. If you have your own favorites, we would love to include them within the site. The plan is to build a wide range of recipes and then, potentially publish them in our own SuperMarket Coop cookbook!

I have yet another exciting announcement. We have finished the process of selecting the new name for the Virtual CSA. Using the following criteria:
--Easily understandable, concise, no jargon
--Marketable
--Communicates small farm products (not just food, or produce)
--Membership connotation, indicates a relationship

and after examining all the proposed options and feedback we received from
participants, staff, board and friends we have chosen...

Small Farm Connection: Delivering Rural Community Products and Perspectives
Directly to your Door.

The Small Farm Connection will officially begin in October when the pilot phase of the Virtual CSA wraps up. The pilot has already begun to provide us with the information and evaluation to build the Small Farm Connection. For example, quarterly sign ups, packaging suggestions, vegetarian recipes. More information on this process will be coming.

Finally, I wanted to point out a new Mexican product, Hand-crocheted bags!
These unique bags offer a variety of uses. Though they can be used as small purses, gift bags, porpourri holders, wall hangings, or wine bottle holders. Each bag has hand-crocheted edges and has slightly unique design. They measure approximately 8.5 inches by 11.5 inches.
Click here to see the small bags.

Thanks again for the responses. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
SuperMarket Project Manager
