SuperMarket Update #37--5/03/01
**************
I hope you will excuse my brief abandonment. We have been in serious expansion/improvement mode and have some exciting announcements to make! This update may prove a bit lengthy, but I hope you will take a minute to visit the site, especially the revamped store front and let me know what you think.

Many of you will be pleased to find your helpful suggestions implemented. There are many new products from Mississippi, Mexico and Maine, better images, better descriptions and even one new coop!

Cedar Grove Cheese has joined the SuperMarket and is now the eighth group to post products on the retail site. We have some great pictures and history on this century old, Wisconsin coop!

You can also check out their eight flavors of cheese, including two low fat varieties.

Last month, I made a quick trip to Orland, Maine to visit Father Randy at HOME. It was wonderful to learn about the HOME village and all the great work they are doing to empower and care for those who most need it. I took lots of pictures, which will be added to the site soon.

While in Maine, we decided on some new products and new images for the catalog. A particularly exciting new HOME product, Sugarfree Fruit spread in blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and apple that also comes in a four-flavor sampler.

And in time for Mother's Day, we have a few great gift ideas! We have some beautiful, handmade blouses and bags from our coop in Mexico. Each one is unique, but all colorful and well made.

And finally, we have decided to continue the Virtual CSA program in the fall! We have had very positive response from the 47 subscribers and will be opening it up to include more cooperatives. We will also build it around quarterly sign-ups, hopefully appealing to more people. I would love to get any reactions from those of you who are members. Please send any comments to webmaster@ruralco.org We are considering changing the name of the program, let me know your ideas!

Spring has begun with lots of growth and a fresh start. http://www.supermarketcoop.com continues to move onward and upward. Thanks for all your help during this process.

In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
SuperMarket Project Manager
