SuperMarket Update #36--4/11/01
**************
I have been out of the
loop a bit as we had our Assembly Meeting last week, bringing
in nearly 200 of our members and supporters to the Capitol. It
was a challenging and productive week, setting the priority work
for the Rural Coalition and sending everyone home feeling energized.
The SuperMarket Project had
strong presence on the agenda both in terms of presentation and
strategic discussions. We concluded sessions with three new committees
to focus on the second phase of the Virtual CSA, which would
begin in October, the marketing and promotion of the site, and
the expansion and training of new participating cooperatives.
In addition to the committee
formation, we were able to sell a few more CSA memberships. The
grand total for subscriptions is now 44! Everyone is thrilled
with the response and ready to make the test a success.
The first boxes from Fall
River Wild Rice should be going out today or tomorrow. Combined
with products, there will be a coop newsletter, recipes, and
two monthly pieces, The Juicer, consisting of educational information
on food and farm policy and Food & Faces, a coop history
and farmer-focused piece. I would love to get your initial responses
when you receive your box. Please send any comments to webmaster@ruralco.org
Next week, look for new Mississippi
products! Until then, thank you.
In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
