e-Update Archives

February 2nd, 2001--SuperMarket Coop e-Update #28
**************
I know you will not be surprised that this first week of February I again have exciting news! That, my friends, is the pleasure of this job. It is always exciting and there is always something to share.

For the first time, we have an artist's featured work available for purchase on the site! We are offering the work of award winning Indian Artist Sandy Swallow-Morgan, through the participation of the Intertribal Agriculture Council in the SuperMarket Project.

Below is an excerpt from a piece written about Sandy for a show in South Dakota.

"Hand-pulled block printmaking is a painstaking process she says, allowing time to think about ideas, colors, subjects and compositions. It pushes her to her creative limits. Sandy's works are full of light and linear tension. As an artist, she knows how to extrapolate all of the spiritual richness of her subjects. She opens toward a new poetic expression of interior beauty by which we register drama and passion. She is influenced by the rich history of her Indian ancestors and her own renewed spirit and sense of
spiritual fulfillment."

One of Sandy's block prints, Seven Councils, is available as a signed limited edition lithograph on our Web site Sandy's Art

I hope you will check out the print. I am really pleased with the quality of the image and would love to know your thoughts about buying artwork online. You can email me at webmaster@ruralco.org

In addition to our entrance into art, I have some other project news, that I can't really call exciting. Jamil has finished his service with the Rural Coalition and this was his final week. We will all be sorry to see him leave. I know the project has benefited tremendously from his support. He is, however, off to exciting things, I think beginning in India and continuing to parts unknown. We will miss you, Jamil.

He has finished posting all my previous e-Updates on the Web site, if anyone is curious about early development. 28 weeks of updates. Quite a feat! You can check them out at http://www.supermarketcoop.com/eupdate.htm

Happy Ground Hog's Day to all,

In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
SuperMarket Project Manager
