January 19, 2001--SuperMarket Coop e-Update #26
**********
This week has just flown by and I have been busy reconnecting with folks and talking with the cooperatives about the holiday sales and new ideas for marketing in 2001.

In addition to continuing to promote the retail Web site, we are starting to focus on the Virtual CSA concept that emerged from the team, while we were in Las Vegas. We envision a 12 month subscription, with one shipment each month from a different SuperMarket Cooperative; involving cooperatives with
fresh produce, honey and jam products, rice, cheese and possibly meat products. The coop of the month would include recipes and a history.

We are starting to put together ideas for a pilot phase and determine costs and logistics for making it happen. If any of you have had experiences with CSA's or subscription ordering that you think might help us get started, please give me a shout at webmaster@ruralco.org. What sort of information you would want to know about our cooperatives, if quarterly or yearly subscriptions appeal to you, what values you put in supporting this kind of an effort by small cooperatives, any reactions would be helpful.

We have some new things on the site from Mileston. A large variety of aprons, all unique, as well as placemats. We were also promised some quilted baby blankets, but they were bought up before they even made it to the site. We hope to put up the pictures next week for made to order. You can check out the placemats here.

And again, don't forget to order your Fall River Wild Rice chips for your Super Bowl Parties or staff meetings! Although we do not yet have the salsa, we will soon. Choose half Garlic and half Natural! Follow this link to take a look.

Thanks again,

In cooperation,
Rebecca Bond
SuperMarket Project Manager
